On September 25, 2024, Venerable Wangsanim was appointed as the Head Dharma Master of Won Buddhism, stepping into a role of profound responsibility and vision. Over the next six years, he will guide the community with unwavering dedication and wisdom, striving to share the teachings of Won Buddhism on a global scale. Venerable Wangsanim’s commitment to making these teachings accessible and meaningful to people worldwide reflects the inclusive spirit at the heart of Won Buddhism.


Born in 1950 to a devoted Won Buddhist family in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, Venerable Wangsanim embraced the Won Buddhist path at the age of twenty-one. Since then, he has dedicated his life to spiritual practice and service, holding prominent roles such as President of the Graduate School of Won Buddhism and Head Minister of the Seoul Regional Office. He has also served as Dharma Master at the Jungdo Retreat Center, where he continues to teach and mentor Won Buddhist ministers.

Deeply dedicated to fostering interfaith and intercultural collaboration, Venerable Wangsanim is expanding Won Buddhism’s global presence with a spirit of inclusivity. His leadership encourages people from all backgrounds to engage in meaningful dialogue and cooperation. By promoting peace and unity, his initiatives reflect the core values of Won Buddhism, inviting all to contribute toward a more compassionate world.

The Sotaesan Center as a non-profit organization is open to the public and anyone who is interested in cultivating spirituality and humanity. The Center offers meditation, mind study, and Won Buddhism studies and welcomes anyone, whether you are a serious practitioner or a simply curious visitor. The center also operates a small free library for the public. It has a collection of books related to spiritual inspiration, meditation, mind study, philosophy, Buddhism, and Won-Buddhism.
